A multi-center team of Israeli researchers has published a new report that shows babies born during the summer months have a much greater chance of becoming severely shortsighted later in life than those born in the winter. The researchers studied data of 300,000 youngsters aged 16-23 inducted to the Israel Defense Force and correlated the incidence of myopia with their month of birth, making it one of the largest epidemiological studies of its kind. Researchers believe that early exposure to greater levels of natural light is thought to blame for the occurrence. read more
